The secret of Longevity of the Elderly in Spain turned out to be Simple

Spain is the second country that has the highest life expectancy after Japan. The country has at least more than 100,000 centenarians, or people who live healthy until the age of 100 years or more, according to the latest census data.

Over a year, a photographer Reuters Andrea Comas interviewed hundreds of longevity Spain throughout Asturias Balearic Islands, Menorca.

Data shows, the life expectancy of people born in the average Spanish of 83.2 years. Not much different from Japan is 83.4 years.

According Comas, most men and women Spain has the spirit of the high life. They are also very fond of art, ranging from drama to play the piano. Many also enjoy the farm or choose to care for disabled children.

"The majority of parents who are surrounded by the family or the people who love them everyday. There, family ties are paramount," said Comas. Here, Comas provides a brief review of the secrets of longevity for the elderly, as quoted by the Daily Mail, Monday (02/01/2017):


1. spoonful of honey every day

Rafaela Pons who is now 102 years old and comes from Ferreries, in the Balearic island of Menorca. He lived alone though sometimes visited by children and grandchildren. According to him, he never left the habit of drinking a spoonful of honey every day. Here it is believed to make the body is always healthy.


2. Playing the piano

For Pedro Rodriguez (106), the piano is not just a musical instrument. He played the piano every day with his wife 20 years younger than him. Hobby is what he feels is very useful because it makes ageless.


3. Eat Gazpacho

Maria Josefa Guillen (103) said he was very fond of eating gazpacho - traditional Spanish food with tomato and cucumber soup.


4. Believing in the gastrointestinal tract

Lucia Manzano (100) thinks, the digestive tract is the key to longevity.


5. There are many children and gardening

Pilar Fernandez (101) with his daughter Pili, beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren Flori Ana. One thing he always did to live a long time with his family, grow vegetables and eat them every day.
